Based on the title of his book, “Everything I Needed to Know About Money I Learned from My Broke @$$ Friends” join us as we hear funny, unique and honest view on common financial pitfalls and ways to avoid them.
Through humorous anecdotes, Matthews will address common money mistakes and sound and practical alternatives. This talk will be especially valuable for those with the newfound freedom of young adulthood or adults learning to financially plan.
You’ll learn valuable tips for how to set up a budget, avoid stress, make the most of what you earn and how to set yourself up for a secure financial future.
Will S. Matthews is a modern-day renaissance man. With interests in philanthropy, event planning, real estate and marketing, his unique blend of skills and characteristics makes for a powerful offering to his clientele, business associates, and the community.
A native of Houston, Texas, Matthews operates in a variety of arenas in service to both nonprofit and corporate entities. His work includes community outreach, project management, workshop facilitation, fundraising, and keynote speaking. As a socially conscious community leader, Matthews eagerly lends his resources to many community and civic organizations such as Big Brother Big Sisters of Texas, Leadership Houston, METRO, and the Greater Houston Partnership.
He is the recipient of the 2014 President’s Award of Excellence from the Women’s Council of the Houston Real Estate Association and the 2012 Outstanding Service Award from Houston Money Week. He was named to the 2014 and 2015 40 Under 40 Honorable Mention list by Houston Business Journal, and Greater Houston Weekly included him on their “One to Watch” list in 2011.
Matthews is the author of Everything I Need to Know about Life I Learned from an Event Planner (On Demand Publishing, 2014), as well as Everything I Need to Know about Money I Learned from My Broke @$$ Friends (On Demand Publishing 2015). He holds a bachelor’s degree from Dillard University and a master’s degree from Southern University A&M College. Recently, Matthews was accepted into Hive Global Leaders Program hosted by Harvard University.
